Tastes of Rutherglen is a gourmet foodie event which celebrates regional produce and amazing Australian wines, is family friendly (heaps of food and activities for the kids), has awesome live music, and offers a wide range of gluten free options. It’s a food and wine festival that makes it easy for those with dietary requirements to come along and have fun! You can also join in on a variety of master classes where you can get up close and personal with some of the region’s best wines and personalities!
The Winemakers of Rutherglen are an inspiring collective of 19 wineries from one of Australia’s most historic and iconic wine regions. Situated in Murray River country, protected by the Great Dividing Range, Rutherglen is blessed with cool nights, warm days and gloriously long, dry autumns. In essence, the ideal viticultural conditions for pioneering varietals that are uniquely Australian in charm and in spirit.

Tastes of Rutherglen is a progressive feast showing off the region’s best produce and wine. Travel from winery to winery to sample, taste and sip the incredible flavours of Rutherglen! The Winemakers of Rutherglen recognised a growing need for meals which catered to those with dietary concerns, and noticed there didn’t seem to be many gourmet food festivals that could fill this need. So Winemakers of Rutherglen thought, we can do that!
Many of the 19 wineries participating are offering gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free options for those who need to find something specific to suit their needs. Event Details:
DATE: Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th March 2017
TIME: Festival runs 10am – 5pm both days, but meal times vary between wineries.
VENUE: 19 wineries around Rutherglen.
TICKETS: $20 gives you access to all participating wineries for both days, and a festival wine glass to keep! We also have a winery shuttle bus for $27 per day, and a regional shuttle bus (a service offering a return trip from 10 nearby regional towns) for $37 per day. TRAVEL: we suggest driving to the region (3 hours from Melbourne, 4 hours from Canberra) and staying in Rutherglen or a nearby town which is serviced by the regional bus service (Corowa, Wahgunyah, Yarrawonga, Mulwala, Bundalong, Wangaratta, Chiltern, Beechworth, Howlong, Albury and Wodonga.). V-Line trains service the following towns from Melbourne: Wangaratta, Chiltern, Wodonga.
