BALI FOOD SAFARI

Once our destination of Bali had been set for our next gluten free food tour, I started the google search for places to go. The one that caught my attention immediately was the “Bali Food Safari”. Once I did a little more research i.e. checked out their social media and comments on Trip Advisor I knew this experience was a must for our journey.

So it was booked.

Location: Seminyak

Venues: 4 ( in one night! )

The anticipation of the night had been upon us since we booked. We often brought up the event between the three of us and tried to guess what restaurants we would be visiting on our tour, and more importantly what we would be eating! The mystery of the event kept us guessing right up until the very last destination on the actual safari. The buzz of the unknown was one of the best elements of Bali Food Safari.

As we waited outside of our hotel for our bus to arrive, we continued to chatter and have random guesses at what the first location we would be. Then Simon arrived to reveal all… well not really, every location was revealed only moments before we arrived. The mystery continued.

Now with out revealing all the details of the night, I can tell you that the locations, the views, the staff and the food exceeded all the expectations we had for the evening. Our tummies were continually pushed to the limits as we attempted to eat three courses at each location… yes totalling a huge 12 courses! (Started regretting our late lunch at Sea Circus when we arrived at our third location!)

As a coeliac in another country, this night was especially nice for me as the hard work and inconvenience factor of dining with coeliac disease was completely gone. Not once did I need to explain my allergies, double check anything, it was all looked after and I had complete peace of mind. Every location was fully aware of our coeliac dietary needs thanks to the team at Bali Food Safari and all I needed to do was enjoy the food, and as a coeliac that is rare… travelling or not!

Our experience was fantastic I would highly recommend it to anyone that travels to Bali. I am already dreaming about our next Bali Food Safari, I really want to do the Ubud one next.

Two very passionate foodies, Simon Ward and Gael Ward from Perth cooked up this amazing business while holidaying in Bali in 2013. Now the pair along with their children live in Bali and operates the Bali Food Safari from a dedicated office on the island of the gods. Their team of safari hosts offer adventures in multiple languages and locations; Seminyak, Jimbaran and Ubud. They welcome locals, visitors and everyone their mystery dining tours, featuring some of the best restaurants of Bali.

It’s one of those experiences you’ll never forget, it will make you want to return to Bali just to do it again.

Thanks for hosting our night Simon, we had a blast, see you again soon!
